We at First Seat are committed to protecting children more effectively by elevating the industry standards for child car seat manufacture. That is why we have subjected our seat designs to rigorous testing, including testing the severity of side impact crashes, which the NHTSA does not currently require of child car seat manufacturers.

Recent medical research has shown conclusively that the brain is injured by rapid rotational movements rather than by direct impact. Therefore, side impact is potentially the most dangerous type of collision. Because of this, our seat is designed based on experience from the most extreme accident environment: Formula One racing.

We have thoroughly tested our product in the same test centers where many major car seat manufacturers test their products. The First Seat design greatly exceeds current NHTSA performance standards for frontal impact, and shows evidence of superior performance in protecting children in side impact crashes.

The First Seat design protects children from impact in all directions. The rigid shell and viscoelastic foam limit the rotational movements of the head, especially in side impact, which is proven to sharply reduce the chance of head and neck injury.

First Seat also employs a mechanism that decelerates the child's forward movement gradually, which reduces the severity of frontal impact.

One thing is clear: child car seat standards need to be raised to better protect children. To that end, First Seat, LLC has developed a comprehensive safety system designed to protect children more effectively in the event of a crash.
